The Tamarisk 22' and 24' gaff cutters are based on the Itchen Ferry fishing boat designs of the late 19th and early 20th century.

Tamarisk 22

The hull design of the Tamarisk 22 is said to be similar to the 1862 Dan Hatcher Itchen Ferry Nellie. I'm not sure that it is as simple as that. From pictures and drawings I have seen of Nellie, she carries very much more sail than a Tamarisk 22. Whatever the case, the Tamarisk 22 hull is very much of the style of the earlier Itchen Ferries with shallow draft and a firm bilge.

The Tamarisk 24 was a development of the 22 with a modified stern to give a counter and the extra 2 foot length.
